A Mobility Experience of Learning, Friendship and Growth in Zaragoza
Last June, Instituto de Apoio à Criança accompanied five Portuguese young people on a mobility experience in Zaragoza, Spain, as part of the European EuMove project.
Over several weeks, the participants had the opportunity to take part in different professional environments, discover new ways of working and develop important skills for their personal and professional future. For some of them, this was their first extended experience abroad and away from their families, representing an important challenge in terms of independence, adaptation and the management of everyday responsibilities.
As with any mobility experience, not every moment was easy. During the stay, some setbacks and difficulties arose, requiring flexibility, communication and the ability to find solutions. However, these challenges also became part of the learning process, allowing the participants to develop greater resilience, responsibility and confidence in their own abilities.
In addition to the professional dimension, the mobility created valuable opportunities for sharing and social interaction. The young people built new friendships, met people from different cultural backgrounds and discovered the city of Zaragoza, making the experience even more enriching.
By the end of the mobility, significant progress could be seen in several areas, particularly in independence, communication, adaptability and the appreciation of learning through professional experience. The participants returned to Portugal with new knowledge, memories and a broader understanding of the opportunities available across Europe.
Despite the challenges encountered, this experience showed that stepping outside one’s comfort zone can be an essential part of personal growth.
